Compass exists to catch change early — before a crisis, a hospital admission, or a safeguarding concern forces the issue. It is built around three things most day services don't offer together: validated cognitive monitoring, clinical oversight, and a genuinely community-based delivery model.
Activity is drawn from the UK's leading evidence-based approaches to early dementia support: Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), music and reminiscence therapy, art therapy, and adaptive movement — shown to support cognition, mood and independence in early-stage dementia. Every visitor receives monthly Registered Nurse oversight, with structured monitoring in place to identify changes in health or cognition early, and a clear pathway back to the person's GP when a change is spotted.
Sessions are out and about in the community, not confined to a building, and include a hot lunch. The result: people stay sharper, more connected, and living independently for longer. 80% of Compass participants remain living independently at home after one year.
